Geoffrey Mamerow, audit manager with Kubiak Melton & Associates, LLC, of Albuquerque, told council that zero findings were reported in the financial statement portion of the audit. In the federal awards segment, Mamerow said a few minor issues were discovered and that all had been addressed in consultations with Town Manager Alex Brown, GǣBrown is doing a very solid job,Gǥ he said.

Stone McGee & Co. of Silver City had been performing the yearly audit, but Brown told the Beat state auditor regulations limit how long a company is permitted to audit a single entity - nine years, and this would be the tenth year for Stone McGee & Co. However, Brown said, after a two-year interval, Stone McGee & Co. can be considered again.

A Mr. Lopez expressed his concern in the public input phase that the installation of smart water meters seems to have been a unilateral decision, with no community meetings, no vote, and no discussion of health hazards.

District 4 Councilor Guadalupe Cano announced that a Date Night with dinner, flowers and a photo will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and a tea party will also be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, in Parotti Hall on the WNMU campus. Both events are sponsored by the WNMU Music Department and the American Association of University Women to raise funds for the music department and for maintaining their pianos. District 3 Councilor Jose Ray Jr. said a bike run would be held in conjunction with the 2016 Blues Festival to benefit Cobre girlG
