Mayor Michael Morones chaired the Tuesday evening, Feb. 23, town council meeting for his last time as mayor of Silver City. While praising the community and town staff, Morones said: GǣWith an underpaid and undermanned staff, we still continue to, I believe, give top notch service.Gǥ

Nancy Cliff thanked Morones for his effort in having Silver City named a Continental Divide Trail Gateway Community.

All councilors expressed that it was an honor to serve on the council with Morones as mayor.

District 1 Councilor Cynthia Bettison said a workshop is planned for March 15, at 6 p.m., at Watts Hall in the Small Business Development Center offices to answer the question, GǣDo you qualify for a LEDA grant?Gǥ which provides funding for businesses alongside private sources of money.

District 3 Councilor Jose Ray Jr. opined that more lights are needed downtown for added safety and asked the question, GǣWhy arenG
