Silver City Town Manager Alex Brown presented his proposed budget for fiscal year 2017 to the Town Council, which at $8.52 million would exceed last year's budget of $8.32 million. Operational costs would stay the same, Brown said, except for fuel savings created by low fuel prices and the full year operation of the town's fueling center.

Personnel changes in the proposed budget would include:
Decrease three full-time employees at Municipal Court;
Decrease three FTE's in the PlanningDepartment;

Increase one FTE in the Parks Division;
Increase one FTE in the Streets Division;
Negotiations with the unions, which could affect the General, Water/Sewer, and Sanitation funds.
