Earlier this morning, Sunday, May 22, 2016, around 2:25 a.m., New Mexico State Police officers responded to the scene of a pedestrian fatality. This incident occurred near mile marker 82 on Interstate 10 in Deming, New Mexico.

The initial investigation revealed that a pedestrian, Amanda Armendariz (34) from Deming, New Mexico, was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The involved driver and vehicle have not been located at this time.

Ms. Armendariz sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This incident is still under investigation.
