SILVER CITY, NM; May 22, 2016 - Multiple resources are taking full suppression actions on the Sisters Fire near Twin Sisters on the Silver City Ranger District of the Gila National Forest. The fire is two miles northeast of Pinos Altos near the Continental Divide Trail and approximately four acres in size. Smoke is visible from Silver City.

Resources on the incident include the Silver City Hotshots, two engines and two helicopters. Additional resources are on order. The fire is spreading through ponderosa pine and grass with 6-12 inch flame lengths. There is a rocky outcropping to the east that may help slow fire spread in that direction.

The cause of the fire is unknown. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
