The Catwalk, near Glenwood NM, reopened on Saturday, May 28, 2016, to the public after a $4.6 million design build federally funded project to reconstruct the historic metal catwalk used by miners in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century to pull ore out of nearby mines. A water pipeline also provided water to mining operations at the mouth of the canyon.

The most recent Catwalk, which hung from the walls of the canyon, had been built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Th Catwalk was ripped from its moorings in strong floods in 2014, after being damaged by flooding in previous years.

The current reconstruction was completed by AUI Inc., with help from Bohannon Huston Inc.
