Spur Fire 160607 RSLUNA, NM; June 7, 2016 - The lightning-caused Spur Fire continues to spread slowly ten miles north of Reserve, NM on the Quemado Ranger District of the Gila National Forest. It is estimated at 2,700 acres with 25 personnel assigned. The fire has been managed under a confine and contain strategy west of Road 49 (Toriette Lake Rd) and south of Forest Road 3020 since it started May 21. It is 40 percent contained.

Personnel committed to the incident monitor and patrol the fire daily. The Spur Fire is expected to keep moving on the south aspect of Dillon Mountain and within the 2006 Wilson Fire scar. Observed fire activity includes backing on the southwest edge with occasional isolated torching in the interior.

Areas in proximity to the Spur Fire may have smoky skies from time to time. Smoke is also drifting into New Mexico from several fires burning in Arizona.
