Update: Escondida Fire in Socorro County

The Escondida Fire in Socorro County has burned an estimated 75-80 acres. Multiple structures on the east side of the Rio Grande River remain threatened. Structure protection is in place. No evacuations have been called for at this time. Local authorities have stopped traffic in the area on Hwy. 408. Resources, including a helicopter, are continuing suppression activities.

A bosque fire that began early this evening has reportedly burned an estimated 30 acres of private land northeast of Socorro, just south of the Escondida Bridge. The fire jumped the Rio Grande River and is burning on both its east and west sides. Multiple structures are threatened on the east side of the river. No evacuations have been called for at this time. Multiple local, state, and federal resources have responded.
