Update: Escondida Fire in Socorro County

The Escondida Fire in Socorro County has burned approximately 1,000 acres. Two residences and an estimated 12 other structures have reportedly burned as of early this morning. Several structures are threatened. The primary area of threat to structures is on the east side of the Rio Grande River, but structure protection is in effect in all areas.

Power is out in the area due to the need to de-energize power lines for safety reasons. Hwy. 408 remains closed. Many residents have chosen to self-evacuate.

The multiple resources at the incident are continuing full suppression activities. Air attack is en route. The weather outlook for the area is increased humidity and possible rain.
