The Bayard City Council held its regular meeting on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 2 p.m.

The Cobre High School band was in attendance for the meeting. The band was honored with a proclamation making the month of May Cobre High School Band month.

The proclamation stated:

GǣWHEREAS, it is the mission of the Cobre High School Band to teach student music as well as the discipline and life skills necessary to be successful in their adult lives; and

WHEREAS, the Cobre High School Band is important to the extracurricular activities of Cobre High School and the City of Bayard by providing the community with entertainment, service and support; and

WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the achievements of the current and former students of the Cobre High School Band for their 17th State Championship.

NOW THEREFORE, in recognition of the achievements of the Cobre High School Band, I, Charles L. Kelly, Mayor of the City of Bayard, hereby proclaim the month of May 2016 to be known as:

GǣCobre High School Band MonthGǥ

and call upon all citizens to join with the Cobre High School Band and the City of Bayard in celebration and support of the Cobre High School Band and its members.

Councilor Raul Villanueva congratulated the Cobre High School Band on its state championship win and stated what an honor it was to have the band come before the council.

During the meeting, the council approved a numbers of items. The items were the work order for engineering service for effluent pump station repairs and replacement due to system failure for a fee of $18,783 not including gross receipts tax, the utility access easement with Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin (Dodson property), the Intent to adopt G
