The Silver City Police Department received a report of a scam involving a person attempting to obtain money by using the Town of Silver City as the collector.

On June 14th, 2016, at about 5:00 pm, a person identifying himself as GǣRobertGǥ from the Town of Silver City, called a local business stating that the business owes a water bill of $987.56. The call stated the bill needs to be paid right away or their water would be turned off. The caller made it clear the bill should be paid by a prepaid visa card. The caller instructed the victim to go to a local pharmacy or store and obtain the prepaid card and then call back with the card numbers.

The phone number the call came from is 1-888-872-4121, ext: 1134. Again, this is a scam. If you have questions about any phone calls of this nature please contact City Hall or the Silver City Police Department.
