Grant County Commission recognizes four area youth teams with proclamations

At its regular meeting, Thursday, June 16, 2016, the Grant County Commission recognized four area youth teams with proclamations'the 2016 New Mexico 4-H Shooting Sports Contest High Point Hunting Team, the 2016 Silver High School State Champions for wrestling, the 2016 Silver High School Softball State Champions for the sixth time, and the 2016 Silver High School Champion Girls' Golf Team.

Their respective coaches and team members who were present accepted the proclamations.

The 4-H High Point Shooting Team at state was recognized with a County Commission proclamation. From left are Commissioner Gabriel Ramos, Coach Shawn Brabson, team member Riley Brabson, Commission Chairman Brett Kasten, team members Trent Kasten and Jordan Gonzales, Extension Agent Jessica Swapp, team member Ty Dalton, and Commissioner Ron Hall.

Swapp and Coach Brabson received the proclamation for the 4-H shooting team, which consists of Riley Brabson, Jordan Gonzales, Ty Dalton and Trent Kasten. They will be heading to national competition later this summer.

Several members of the 2016 Silver High School Wrestling Team were recognized for their state championships. The only member present was Zeke Morales, along with Coach Luis Alvarado, who accepted the proclamation.
