Thursday, June 16, 2016, around 12:15 p.m., New Mexico State Police officers responded to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash. This crash occurred near the 103 mile marker on Interstate 10 east of Deming, New Mexico.

The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle, driven by Teresa Ochoa (62) from Reedley, California, was traveling eastbound on I-10 when the vehicles front passenger side tire deflated/blew out. The vehicle then entered the center median where it over turned several times. One of the passengers, Marisela Salinas (8) from Las Vegas, NV, sustained fatal injuries. She was transported from the scene by ambulance to Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming, NM, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver and two additional passengers sustained injuries in the cash and were treated and released.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.

This vehicle crash is still under investigation.
