Another exciting district contest is in the books and as to be expected Grant County 4-H dominated the competition. The 2016 District Contest was held in Glenwood, NM, on June 15-16. In the Archery contest Grant County's Open Freestyle Team 1 came in 2nd consisting of Mason Lockett, Jeremy Younger, Rio Koury and Sarah Gardner. The Grant County Open Freestyle Team also did very well placing 4th in the contest. The team is comprised of Aiden Gutierrez, Isabella Tovar and Aiden McDaniel. Krysten Jones, Danielle Parra and Dayton Bizzell represented the Open Freestyle Limited Team and also did very well.

High Point individuals for the day were Mason Lockett receiving 2nd High Point Individual, Krysten Jones as 4th High Individual and Rio Koury as 5th High Point Individual in the Novice Division.

For the Junior age group Team 1 Open Freestyle from Grant County, comprised of Samantha Jones, Jacobi Lockett, Morgan Bighley and Connor McDaniel, were the champions of the day winning 1st place. Team 2 with members Xander OG
