Official Silver City Police Department documents state that on June 11, 2016, at about 1 p.m., a caller to the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority reported that he was on W. Highway 180 in the vicinity of Mangus Springs following a dark blue Dodge Charger which was traveling east at a high rate of speed and could not maintain its lane.

Caller provided a 4-5 minute video, captured as he followed the blue Dodge Charger from MM 94 west of Mangus Springs, through Mangus, and for a ways east of Mangus. Clearly seen was the driver of the Dodge drifting completely over the center stripe into the westbound lane and then drifting to the right, at times completely on the shoulder of the road outside the white side stripe. Some vehicles traveling west were forced to their edge of the highway by the
Dodge's erratic movements.
