At its Tuesday, June 28 meeting, the Silver City Town Council approved a bid from Southwest Hazard Control Inc. of Las Cruces in the amount of $121,116.60 plus gross receipts tax to abate lead and asbestos from the Historic Waterworks Building on Little Walnut Road. Funding comes from a $200,000 EPA grant received by the town about two and one-half years ago for lead and asbestos abatement, according to Town Manager Alex Brown.
