Governor Susana Martinez announcing the record breaking New Mexico tourism numbers.

Governor Susana Martinez visited Silver City, New Mexico in the morning on Monday, July 11, 2016. Governor Martinez held a press conference to talk about the successful growing tourism in New Mexico and, also, to celebrate the opening of Parklet106.

Governor Martinez expressed how the tourism within the state is growing and how Silver City has been a big factor in the growth of the tourism. Silver City is blessed with the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, and a thriving art scene. These unique features bring people from all over the nation to Silver City and to New Mexico.

Governor Martinez announced New Mexico for the past 4 years has had record breaking tourism growth.

"That is huge," Governor Martinez exclaimed over the applause of the audience of the news.

In 2015 alone, 33.4 million visitors came to New Mexico. This is an all time high for the state

The growing tourism rates helps the economy and it helps create jobs within the tourism industry.
