The Town of Hurley held its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 5 p.m. All members of the council were present.

The first item approved at the meeting was the agenda for the meeting.

The council discussed the only problem was that a chunk of the funding had been cutoff and they may not be able to afford an expensive cover. The Hurley Pride is still looking for a solar panel for the playground. They would like for the children to be able to play on the playground when it is hot outside. The canvas covers that would fit the playground could cost up to $140,000. The Pride will continue to research other options for the playground. It was also stated that a volunteer for the library is needed so the library can remain open. It is still on standstill at the moment.

Engineers Inc. gave street project updates. It was stated that all the plans are ready to go. It was also brought up that it might be beneficial to combine the two projects on Nevada and Cortez streets. This would help with the pricing. Councilor Richard Maynes expressed that he did not see any negative effects in combining the projects.

The council approved the hiring of a new life guard, Adrian Romero Jr., and a new police officer, Edmond GǣRayGǥ Lucero. Lucero was said to have high recommendations from the Silver City Police Department.

The consent agenda was also approved at the meeting. The consent agenda included:
