The Silver school board meeting opened at 6:10 Tuesday, July 19 ,at the Administrative Building. All members were present: Mike McMillan, Tony Egan, Frances Vasquez and Arnold Torres, president. Chris Arvidson arrived at 6:35, after his JPO work ended, he said later.

Mary Lou Sauceda gave the SCEA report, saying the last meeting with administrators and union members went very well. They discussed salaries and other issues.

John Carter, acting superintendent, said the meeting with principals and directors covered both routine items and some administrative changes. The collective bargaining things had gone very well.
The new calendar would soon be out for new employees and others. Principals of each facility would meet with their staffs; he would be visiting each facility in the early days. Each new year was exciting.

Candy Milam, financial director, started with a number of collective bargaining changes, covering leaves, absences and personal days. Some documentation would be required for medical days or conditions.

New language was written in about family members and communications, but did not affect much from the past. Gifts for retiring personnel would remain at $50.00 if budget allowed for it.

Family membership and definitions were addressed for benefit conditions. GǣCertifiedGǥ was changed to GǣlicensedGǥ in some paragraphs. It was mainly a clean-up of language for clarity, she admitted. Teachers would get a one-dollar increase in salaries in 2017 and 2018, but if state conditions allowed, those could still be increased upwardly.

Her second bit of information involved the February elections. The firm that had helped with the elections in the past had been helpful with bonding and tax issues, and legal documents. SilverG
