Silver City, NM; July 26, 2016 - The Black Range Complex Fires on the Black Range Ranger District consist of four fires: the Kline and Cooney Fires started July 8, the Corduroy Fire on July 17, and the Boiler Fire on July 18. These lightning-caused fires are located in the Black Range Mountains, 65 miles northwest of Truth or Consequences, NM. As these fires burn, pre-determined management areas have been designated for fire management. The Black Range Complex Fires are currently 4,297 acres. There are currently 71 fire personnel assigned. Fire management for the Black Range Complex Fire will be transferred back to the Black Range Ranger District on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016 at 6:00 AM, and managed by the local district Type 3 fire organization.

Yesterday, the Black Range Complex Fire continued demobilizing fire line personnel. Cooney Fire crews began scouting FR 142C for rehabilitation. Kline Fire rehabilitation inventories are now complete and the fire is in patrol status. Kline Fire crews will be available for initial response to any new fire starts within the Black Range Complex management area. The Boiler Fire remains in monitoring status.

Today on the Cooney Fire, dozer operations will begin on road repairs to FR 142C, weather permitting. The road was used heavily throughout the suppression and rehabilitation efforts during the incident. Fire crews will continue rehabilitating trail improvements within the Cooney Fire perimeter. The Kline Fire is in patrol status, while the Boiler Fire remains in monitor status.
