Saturday, Aug. 13, Western New Mexico University President Joseph Shepard gave his annual State of the University speech before the Welcome Back Bash got underway. He emphasized that the university needs to be more than just academics'it needs to be a multi-cultural center. From the fitness center to reviving the punch card for community members to showing movies for an unheard of $2 in the newly refurbished Light Hall, the university is becoming even more community-oriented than ever before.
