Synopsis: Crash Vehicle/Pedestrian

Location: Silver City, New Mexico

On September 20, 2016, at about 8:46 pm, officers of the Silver City Police Department responded to the area of E. Broadway Street and N. Hudson Street in Silver City, in reference to a reported vehicle/pedestrian crash with injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, a pedestrian, a 38-year-old female, was walking east across Hudson Street, from the Visitors Center towards the Hudson Street Snappy Mart, when she was hit by a white 2004 Chevy 4-door car, driven by a 25-year-old female, which was traveling south on the inside lane on Hudson Street. The crash occurred approximately 50 feet north of the intersection of Broadway and Hudson.

According to the preliminary information, the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk when struck by the car. The pedestrian was flown out from the scene by Native Air to an El Paso, Texas area hospital because of extensive injuries. The condition of the pedestrian is unknown at this time.

Officers are investigating whether the pedestrian was impaired at the time of the crash. No impairment was detected on the part of the driver. The investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed as of this release and are pending completion of the investigation.
