The inaugural Silver City LGBTQ Pride Celebration was held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Texas and Market Streets. Sponsors included the WNMU Center for Gender Equity and LGBTQ Grant County. Mayor Ken Ladner proclaimed the day GǣStand Up, Stand Out & Stand Proud DayGǥ and urged all citizens to attend and enjoy the town's first Gay Pride Celebration. Events included a doggy drag show, live music, appearances by the Diamond Divas of Tucson, food vendors, a beer garden operated by Little Toad Creek; free HIV testing was provided on site by the New Mexico Department of Health and many information booths from organizations supporting the LGBTQ community. The evening concluded with a dance at the Old Elks Club.
