On Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, St. Francis Newman Center hosted an afternoon worship service to honor veterans.
Father Jaroslaw "Jarek" Nowacki, Newman Center Parish pastor, is Civil Air Patrol United States Air Force Auxiliary - 2nd Lieutenantl. He led the worship service in his fatigues and a liturgical stole.
To begin the service, Marine Corps League Detachment 1328 members Frank Donohue, Ben Collins and Robert Lopez provided color guard for the posting of the colors.
Members from the choirs at St. Francis, including Lorraine and Mike Anglin, Annetta Perez, and Jerry Eagan, provided the music, beginning with the National Anthem, and including God Bless America and America, the Beautiful.
Nowacki led the Pledge of Allegiance and then presented a brief history of Armistice Day, which was declared on Nov. 11, 1918 at the end of World War I.
