On Saturday, despite the sometimes blustery and at the outset, showery weather, the 6th annual Tamal Fiesta Y Mas took place in downtown Silver City adjacent to and on Bullard Street, between 7th St. and College Ave.
Silver City's Mayor Kenneth Ladner opened the Fiesta at 10:00 am, predicting that showers would end by 10:30, which they did! Music from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm was provided by WNMU's Mariachi Plata band and from 1:00 to 3:00 pm by the Caliente Band from Las Cruces. The event attracted hundreds of visitors of all ages who were able to select tamales and other many other delicacies from the numerous food vendors. Many other vendors marketed everything from dill pickles and chilies to art and iron stoves.
