The 12-year-old Safford, Ariz. girl, who was the subject of a Monday, Dec. 5 Amber Alert, and found by a Grant County Sheriff's Deputy with the help of a passing truck driver, along Highway 78 near Mule Creek on Tuesday, Dec. 6, is now being helped by the Children, Youth and Families Department, according to Lt. Fermin Lopez of the GCSD. Lopez also said the girl's guardians in Safford have been contacted.

Personnel at the Grant County Detention Center confirmed to the Beat that the adult male, Lawrence James Halamek, 35, also of Safford, who was found with the girl, is incarcerated under a $100,000 cash only bond.
