On Friday, Dec. 9, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Grant County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to 3 Main Street in Hurley in reference to a physical domestic altercation. Deputies were then informed by the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority that the parties involved in the dispute had moved to 313 Nevada Street in Hurley.

Deputies made contact on Nevada Street with a female who advised that a male identified as Nabau Parker, 39, of Silver City, accused her of cheating on him and she in turn slapped him in the face. In retaliation, the female said, according to a GCSD offense report, Parker then slapped her several times, threw her to the ground, and started dragging her around.

When witnesses attempted to stop Parker, the offense report stated, Parker told the men to mind their own business and threatened them by saying he was going to get his gun.

The female then stated, according to the report, that she jumped in her truck and began driving from the Main Street location to Nevada Street in Hurley. As she was driving away, Parker jumped in the bed of her truck and began shooting, she said. The female added that at no time did Parker point the gun at her or threaten her with the gun.

Meanwhile, in a statement given by Parker to another deputy, Parker stated, according to the report, that he had thrown the weapon, a .40 caliber carbine, out of the bed of the victimG
