The three new commissioners for districts 3, 4 and 5 of the Grant County Commission'Alicia Edwards, Billy Billings and Harry Browne'the re-elected treasurer, Steve Armendariz, and the newly elected clerk, Marissa Castrillo, were sworn in this morning by District 1 Magistrate Judge Maurine Laney at the Grant County Administration Center in front of a standing room only crowd.
The newly elected officials take office at midnight Jan. 1, 2017.
Judge Laney said she was very pleased to be part of the swearing in and pleasantly surprise to see the big turnout in support of the elected officials.
Billings said: "I'm just going to try to do the right thing."
"I'm very excited and really look forward to working with the people of Grant County," Edwards said.
"I'm really looking forward to getting to work with this Commission," Browne said. "We are all dedicated to improving Grant County. I think we have different visions of how to do that, but I'm sure keeping the common goal in mind, we will make progress."
