The Silver District school board met Tuesday, January 17, 2017, with all members present. Mary Lou Saucedo spoke for the Silver City Education Association in the absence of Katrina Bustillos, SCEA president. She welcomed the new superintendent, Audie Brown, back to his roots, Silver City, and into this position.

Brown informed the board of legal services retainer agreement options with Walsh Gallegos, a firm out of Albuquerque. One was with a retainer, the other, with a non-retainer agreement. Hourly expenses were for $250 an hour, and tenths of an hour breaks for billings. He said he had used this firm in Estancia and found it effective. As this was a non-action item, the board accepted the new arrangement as acceptable for his position.
