Las Cruces, NM-On today's date, members of the South-West Investigative Fugitive Taskforce (SWIFT) received information that the fugitive may be near Hatch , NM. SWIFT team member's investigation revealed that Fugitive Estevan Banegas (39) may have been staying at his girlfriend's house in Salem, NM.

SWIFT team members, consisting of the United States Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, New Mexico State Police and the Security Threat Investigation Unit (STIU) headed North to Salem, found Benegas girlfriend's house and located the fugitive at the residence. The fugitive immediately realized that his "on the run" escapade was over and did not make any attempt to evade authorities.

Fugitive Benegas was wanted by the New Mexico Department of Corrections for a Probation Violation for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Cocaine, and Resisting/Evading Law Enforcement, but was placed under arrest without incident. The location of arrest was the 200th block of Carriage rd., in Salem, NM. Fugitive Banegas was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
