Two shootings, which occurred on Sunday, Jan. 29, are being investigated by the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

One, according to GCSD Lt. Fermin Lopez, took place on Western Drive in Grant County at about 9:30 a.m. Lopez said the incident involved a male who was shot in the leg, transported to Gila Regional Medical Center and flown out to another hospital.

The second shooting occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Rio de Arenas Road in Grant County and also concerned a male who was shot in the leg, was transported to GRMC, and flown out to another hospital. Lopez told the Beat that the two shootings appear to be unrelated.

The investigation into these two incidents is ongoing and no other information is being released at this time, Lopez stated.
