David BecknerAt left, David Beckner-wanted on third degree felony warrant

On January 29, 2017 just before 9:30 A.M., Grant County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to #45 Western Drive in reference to a male subject shooting at a blue mobile home. This caller requested to remain anonymous and hung up the phone when dispatchers requested more information.

Deputies arrived on scene and were unable to locate a victim nor the reporting party. While Deputies were investigating this incident, they received information from Central Dispatch that there was a male at Gila Regional Medical Center requesting to be treated for a gunshot wound. Silver City Police Officers, Grant County Deputies and investigators responded to the hospital. The victim in this case was identified as Rodney Chavez (23 YOA/Silver City). Chavez was shot on his left leg. Investigators believe the weapon used in this case was a shotgun. Detectives processed the scene, interviewed witnesses and the victim.

David Beckner (40 YOA/Hanover NM) was identified as the individual responsible for the shooting.
