According to a Grant County Sheriff's Department offense report, deputies were dispatched Sunday, Mar. 12, just before 8 p.m., to North Hurley to meet a woman in reference to a shooting complaint. When deputies arrived they made contact with the woman in front of the Penjamo Bar.

The woman stated that her boyfriend and her two daughters went to a North Hurley address to pick up a child from Rudy Marquez III, 25, Bayard, the report said, and the boyfriend and Marquez got into an argument. When Marquez pulled out a handgun, the boyfriend allegedly said, GǣWhat are you going to do with that? Are you going to shoot me?Gǥ At that time Marquez shot the boyfriend in the left thigh with the .40 caliber weapon.

Deputies found a cartridge case at the scene which appeared to be .40 caliber.
