On Saturday, Apr. 22, Silver City police officers arrested Lorenzo L. Cardoza, 32, of Silver City, charging him with three counts of fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit forgery, one count of identity theft, 35 counts of forgery, 32 counts of identity theft, and one count of possession of a controlled substance (meth). Cardoza remains in the Grant County Detention Center under a $50,000 cash only bond, according to GCDC personnel.

Friday, Apr. 21, Ronnie Lopez, 45, of Silver City, was arrested by SCPD officers and charged with one count each of burglary and larceny. Lopez, who was described by witnesses as homeless, admitted to arresting officers that he took items valued at approximately $2,900 from a vendorGÇÖs tent located at 704 N. Bullard Street that were being stored in preparation for the Tour of the Gila event, according to an affidavit for arrest warrant. GCDC personnel advised the Beat that Lopez was being held on a $15,000 cash or surety bond but was released Monday, Apr. 24, on an unsecured bond. All the missing items were recovered, the affidavit said.
