According to a Saturday, June 10, media release from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the agency is assisting in the investigation of an assault against an off-duty Border Patrol agent assigned to the Deming Station.

The release states the unnamed agent was discovered on the side of the road by a motorist at 11 p.m., Friday, June 9. No location for the discovery was provided in the release.

The release does state the agent suffered multiple, serious injuries to his head, chest and hands and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his wounds. The release stated the agent is in stable condition.

CBP is working closely with the FBI, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office and the El Paso Police Department on the investigation.
