On Monday June 12, 2017 around 4:43 p.m. New Mexico State Police officers responded to SR 9 mile post 130 for a vehicle crash.

Upon arrival officers learned that a Commercial Motor Vehicle(CMV) traveling in the opposite direction had a tie down restraint disengage from the load it was carrying and go into a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Ford Pickup, Mrs. Amelia Dominguez (49) and her passenger Mrs. Idalia Dominguez (51) both of Columbus, NM. were injured in the crash. The passenger was transported by helicopter to University Medical Center in El Paso, TX.

Mrs. Idalia Dominguez succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at University Medical Hospital on June 17, 2017 around 7:00 p.m.

The CMV did not stop, and may be unaware of the crash, the only information retrieved was it is yellow in color, a search for the vehicle was unsuccessful.

This crash is still under investigation, no further information is available.
