Pieces of curb and sidewalk await removal.
The construction on 100 Market Street just west of the bridge over the Big Ditch coming into downtown Silver City will bring new curbs and roadway surface.
All new curbs will replace the south side of the block. At six inches high, they should prevent water going into the basement of the Hester House.
New drainage pipes under the alley behind the building will direct water that rolls down the street in rain storms to flow into the Big Ditch.
Silver City Mayor Ken Ladner said the roadway instead of being crowned will be flat.
