On Tuesday, Sept. 26, several calls were made to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority regarding phone calls received by residents from a man falsely identifying himself as Kevin Flamm of the GCSD, asking for money to pay for executing warrants on certain people.

According to the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, the man also used names of district court employees in an apparent attempt to gain the trust of residents. “It certainly is a scam,” the PIO said. “We don’t do business that way. We would never call anyone asking for funds of any kind to help pay for our programs.”

The original calls were traced to several numbers, the PIO stated, and all were out-of-state. The caller could not be identified.

The GCRDA issued a code red (reverse 911) call late Tuesday afternoon, according to the GCRDA director, informing subscribers of the attempted con.

The PIO advised they are not aware of any residents who were taken in by the scam.
