aarpSanta Fe, N.M. – Today, Rep. Rodolpho “Rudy” Martinez (D-Silver City) received the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) “Capital Caregivers” Award, a distinction given to a select group of bipartisan legislators across the country.

“Being the recipient of the AARP Capital Caregivers Award is a great honor and certainly a highlight of my career,” Martinez said.

AARP New Mexico State Director Gene Varela said, “Rep. Martinez provided key leadership to pass the Guardianship Affidavit and Pre-School Care during the 2017 Session and helped make the big responsibilities of family caregivers, particularly grandparents raising grandkids, in New Mexico a little bit easier.”

The House Democratic Caucus congratulates Rep. Martinez on this accomplishment, and we will continue to fight for all New Mexicans, especially our seniors and the most vulnerable. AARP serves over 250,000 New Mexicans and works to strengthen social security, expand access to healthcare and protect Medicare, and provides a strong voice for New Mexicans.
