SILVER CITY, NM – Today, the Grant County Commission launched a website, GRMCForward.org , to serve as a resource for additional information for employees, patients and the community about the future of healthcare in Grant County.

“The community is interested in the future of local healthcare and the County Commission is committed to keeping GRMC physicians, staff and the community informed,” said Grant County Commissioner Brett Kasten. “The website will provide timely updates and give the community a chance to ask questions and make their voices heard. We hope residents will use the website and be part of the process.”

The site, GRMCForward.org, has been created to share information and give GRMC employees, patients and the larger Grant County community the ability to:

• Stay updated on the Taskforce exploration and education process;
• Ask questions;
• Sign-up to receive updates;
• Read news articles about GRMC’s work to ensure high-quality care.

“Work is underway now to determine how we can best meet and exceed the healthcare requirements of county residents. We are conducting a thorough review of the options available to us to ensure we maintain and improve the services we provide today in a way that can be sustained well into the future,” explained Kasten. “This work is being done to ensure GRMC can continue to meet and exceed patients’ needs for generations to come.”

The decision to explore partnership options comes in light of sweeping changes taking place in today’s healthcare industry. Like GRMC, rural hospitals across the country are exploring whether to remain independent or look for a like-minded partner.
