Election Season kicks off with filing day for county offices March 13, 2018

The 2018 county election season will begin on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, as Grant County residents interested in being candidates will file to run for office.

March 13, from 9 am to 5 pm, the Office of the Grant County Clerk will process declarations of candidacy forms for eligible county residents. There will be a $50.00 filing fee payable in cash or campaign check only. Candidates qualifications will be reviewed and verified by March 20.

The following offices will file with the Grant County Clerk's Office, 1400 Highway 180 E., Silver City on Tuesday, March 13:
" Grant County Commissioner District 1
" Grant County Commissioner District 2
" Grant County Assessor
" Grant County Sheriff
" Grant County Probate Judge
" Magistrate Judge Division 1
" Magistrate Judge Division 2

Candidates are encouraged to pick up or download a 2018 Primary Election Candidate Guide for complete information on candidate filing. The candidate guide and more information about the March 13 filing can be found at www.sos.state.nm.us or at the Office of the Grant County Clerk.

Interested county residents will be able to keep track of who files in real time on the Secretary of State website at www.sos.state.nm.us
