Synopsis:    Aggravated Burglary

Location:    1800 block of Lamina Loop
        Silver City, New Mexico

Narrative:
    On Saturday, January 21, 2012 officers of the Silver City Police Department responded to Gila Regional Medical Center in reference to an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

    When officers arrived at GRMC, they interviewed a male subject that brought the male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the hospital. He stated he was awakened at his residence on the 600 block of Oro, by loud banging on the door of his residence. When he went to see who it was, he observed the injured male standing outside the door with blood on his chest. The injured male was transferred to an El Paso hospital for treatment.

    While officers were at Gila Regional Medical Center, they were dispatched to the 1800 block of Lamina Loop in reference to a burglary and that shots had been fired. When officers arrived, the occupant of the residence advised them at about 5:00 AM he was awakened by some one kicking in his door. He armed himself with a handgun and went to check the front door. As he approached the door, he observed an intruder dressed in dark clothing, wearing a mask, holding a pistol and walking towards him. The resident of the house exchanged gunfire with the intruder. The intruder then left the house in an unknown direction. The resident was unsure if the intruder had been struck by any rounds that were fired.

    During their investigation, officers discovered that Lamina Loop and Oro are in the same neighborhood, just a block away.
