SILVER CITY, NM – Today, the Grant County Board of Commissioners announced the completion of presentations from potential GRMC partners and GRMC leaders. The commissioners heard presentations from Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center, LifePoint Health and GRMC leaders. The presentations were an opportunity for the organizations to outline their vision for GRMC and ensuring Grant County’s healthcare future.

No decision has been made about GRMC’s future.

“The commission heard three impressive presentations that included a range of ideas and visions for GRMC’s future. Now that we have gathered information from potential partners and GRMC leaders, we look forward to hearing from physicians, GRMC employees and members of the community,” said Grant County Commissioner Alicia Edwards. “The commission is engaged in this work to ensure Grant County residents continue to have access to high-quality, local healthcare for generations to come. We are committed to making the best decision for our community.”

Commissioners will hold a public meeting on April 26 to provide an update on the partnership exploration process and to listen to members of the community. Meetings with physicians and GRMC employees are also being held.

In addition to the community meeting, the commission established a public website, GRMCForward.org, to provide timely updates and give the community a chance to ask questions and make their voices heard.

The decision to explore potential partnership options comes in light of sweeping changes taking place in today’s healthcare industry. Like GRMC, rural hospitals across the country are exploring whether to remain independent or look for a like-minded partner.
