Right after the UCI men's podium, a man jumped up on the top step of the winners' podium and asked to have his photo taken.

He handed his phone to someone to remember the moment. This reporter also took a photo of him.

He is Joseph Charomiah of James Hamilton Construction. "I'm the traffic control guy. It's our fifth year of James Hamilton setting up the road closures."

A wander through the team parking lot came upon several gals who were resting from their prior race or prepping for their upcoming Women's 3, 4, 5 race after the break following the UCI women completing their race. 

The team members of ALP Cycles Racing and their coach, whose name you might remember from past Tours of the Gila, were happy to pose for a photo and talk about their team. Alison Powers coaches Manuela Escobar, Mollie Brewer and Lorna Adley, who raced in this year's Tour of the Gila.

Alison Powers said she won the UCI women's race at least once, if not twice. Her last time to race in the Tour of the Gila was in 2014, but she participated six or seven times, she said. Her racers are in the Women Category 3 and as well as in UCI Women. 

After talking to the team of women, several New Mexico State Police were taking a break between races and managing traffic. They smiled upon being thanked for their help with the race. 

Patrolman Francisco Gomez, Sgt. Joshua Perea on motorcycle duty, Patrolman Manuel Veloz and Sgt. Trey Reed were on duty during the Time Trials.
