With steady progress being made on the underground utilities and College Avenue beautification project, College Avenue will be closed at A Street on either Wednesday, May 23, or Thursday, May 24, 2018. The road will be blocked off at the intersection of A Street, so traffic will be rerouted south to 8th Street and back to College Avenue via N. Lyon and B streets.

This closure will allow crews from Western New Mexico University to bore under the pavement of College Avenue and make way for campus utilities.

The ongoing College Avenue construction project, which includes the movement of utilities underground, is set to be completed in fall 2018. Regular working hours for this project are Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., although crews may work longer hours or on weekends if needed.

Remember that during this phase of construction, no parking is allowed on either side of the street along College Avenue between A and D streets. The sidewalk is also closed to pedestrian traffic.
