Buzzard Fire

Location:
Reserve Ranger District on the Gila National Forest

· 4 miles north of Eagle Peak Lookout

· Catron County, New Mexico

Start Date: May 22, 2018 Size: ~3-4 acres

Cause: Under investigation Vegetation: Grass, heavy timber

Smoke: Smoke may be visible in the area around Eagle Peak

Resources: Engine on scene, Initial Attack Crews have been ordered.

Summary: The Buzzard Fire is burning on Forest Service lands approximately four (4) miles north of Eagle Peak. A new start has been sighted north of Eagle Peak Lookout. An air reconnaissance flight has confirmed the start and initial reports on the fire are approximately 3-4 acres.
