Summary: The Meadow Fire is burning on Forest Service lands north of Signal Peak. Interior smoke is diminishing. All lines are being held and crews continue to secure the edges of the fire.
General Fire Information: Fire investigators were able to determine the location of the origin near a dirt road. The cause of the fire was determined to be from exhaust system particles.
Safety: The Gila National Forest reminds the public that the forest is in Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. We want to remind all ATV users that their vehicles are still allowed on NFS lands, but must have a properly installed and effectively working spark arresting device.
Smoke may continue to be visible in the area. Smoke from fire rises up and away during the daytime, but in the evening smoke can pool back down in canyons, drainages, and basins. Smoke-sensitive individuals and people with respiratory or heart disease are encouraged to take precautionary measures.
