Summary: The Willow Fire, is burning on National Forest System lands, on Glenwood Ranger District in Catron County, NM. It is about 400 yards above Crest Trail #182, therefore Crest Trail #182 will be closed from Sandy Point to Trail #172 at this time for public health and safety.

The fire is burning fairly hot in heavy timber and spotting. Air reconnaissance confirms 3 acres and that there is a lack of access and little option for safe engagement. The strategy for today is to monitor and confine the fire. Appropriate management strategy will continue to be under review by using a complexity analysis.

Smoke from fire rises up and away during the daytime, but in the evening smoke can pool back down in canyons, drainages, and basins. Smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and intensify chronic heart and lung problems.
