Silver City police officers and detectives were dispatched to 225 F Street just after midnight Friday morning. According to blotter information, a caller to the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority advised that a man wearing black shorts, gloves, and shirt was reportedly lying in the roadway near the curb bleeding from the head. Arriving officers requested EMS to attend to a male who was down and bleeding from the head and unresponsive, although he was thought to be breathing.

EMS3 advised to have Native Air standby at the helipad, the blotter said.

Acting Police Chief Freddy Portillo told the Beat the male suffered head and facial injuries and was flown out. Portillo stated no suspects have been confirmed. The cause of the man’s injuries is not known at this time, according to Portillo, and the victim’s identity was not being released as the case is still under investigation.
