On August 25, 2018 around 5:00 a.m., New Mexico State Police officers investigated a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 10 at mile marker 91 in Luna County.

The preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet SUV with three occupants was traveling westbound on Interstate 10. Around mile marker 91 the vehicle left the roadway and subsequently rolled. The front passenger, Ariel llerenas (27) of Watauga, TX, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. She was transported from the scene to the University Medical Center in El Paso, TX where she succumbed to her injuries sustained in the collision. No other serious injuries were reported.

This crash remains under investigation with no further details available.
